What is baby lactose intolerance?

Some formula-fed babies find it hard to digest the natural sugar (lactose) found in formula. This is called lactose intolerance. The main source of lactose for formula-fed babies will come from infant formula. Find out more on lactose intolerance in babies.

Important notice
Breast milk is best for babies and breastfeeding should continue for as long as possible. Infant milks are suitable from birth when babies are not breastfed and should only be used on the advice of a doctor, midwife, health visitor, public health nurse, dietitian or pharmacist, or other professionals responsible for maternal and child care. SMA LF® is a lactose free milk based formula for babies and young children who are intolerant to lactose or sucrose, or who are experiencing symptoms such as diarrhoea, tummy ache or wind caused by temporary lactose intolerance.
